Mark Twain is quoted as having said, “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.” In context of our Self-Care September Challenge, the frog is that one thing you have on your to-do list that you need to accomplish but have absolutely no motivation to do. If it sounds simple, that's because it is. But let's not be tricked into thinking something simple requires no effort or can have no impact, because small hinges can indeed swing big doors (meaning even small changes can yield huge results,) AND getting in the habit of returning things to their rightful place requires forethought and attention around having a rightful place already designated. As I tell my clients, there is not one correct way to get or be organized, but you have to be willing to try doing things in different ways until you find what works for you. Having recently moved from Colorado to Tennessee, I want to share just a smattering of helpful ideas, suggestions, and haphazard nuggets of advice we gathered throughout the process.
Every move is unique in a thousand different ways, but sometimes we can have an easier go of things when we watch and learn from one another's experiences. "Lose the excuses.
They don't get you any closer to your goals." |
