At any given moment, life sure reserves the right to come at us fast. Lickety split decisions sometimes need to be made, developments in the world around us need to be processed at a rapid-fire pace, zigs get turned into zags on a moment’s notice. Then you toss in this particular time of year, and things can intensify right quick. We tend to ramp up our social obligations, set a slew of goals around our bodies, health, and nutrition, and we make grand declarations to ourselves or even the world at large of CHANGE and DIFFERENT and BETTER and FINALLY! This is all fine and good, and riding that motivational high can indeed be a excellent way to build energetic momentum, but my question this week is: what are you doing to #prepare for it all? Because wanting something to happen and taking the time to #prepare for its fruition are actually two different things.
For example, one of my current goals is to enjoy a quiet, cozy, peaceful holiday season; to #prepare, I’m limiting my social engagements to what fits around my already blocked out “me time” (because I’ve learned that while attending All The Parties sounds like fun in theory, *actually* attending all the parties at the expense of quality alone time leaves me depleted, frazzled, and a bit cranky). I intend to maintain a strong, fit body as 2019 melts into 2020; to #prepare, I’ve got my December workouts locked and loaded in my calendar. I also plan to follow-through with that workout calendar on a daily basis; to #prepare, I mentally rehearse the following day’s workout each evening when I lay out my workout clothes, making it a no-brainer when I get dressed in the morning. No matter what your goals are - smoother mornings, adequate hydration, an earlier bedtime, a leaner physique, a bouncing booty, tickets to the gun show - you have it within your power to #prepare for inevitable success! So I invite you to take a moment today for some #realtalk about what you can and will do to #prepare yourself (or your environment...or your schedule...or your refrigerator... or your attitude) for your version of ideal...and then keep being awesome as it all unfolds around you. You got this. There is no other way.
