Music exerts a powerful influence on human beings.

​Just like breathing and walking, listening to music is an easily accessible self-care practice with a multitude of benefits for your body, mind, and mood.

I mean, just check out this list!

Listening to music can:
  • foster feelings of connectedness 
  • help people think about who they are, who they would like to be, and how to cut their own path
  • stimulate your brain
  • improve your memory
  • manage pain
  • slow cognitive decline
  • regulate your emotions
  • feel less anxious
  • positively affect depression symptoms (so long as you're not listening to sad songs while ruminating over sad things)
  • alter your breath rate, heart rate, and blood pressure
  • reduce fatigue, and
  • help your body exercise more efficiently

Whether you want to dedicate a specific amount of time to sing along at the top of your lungs or let a relaxing continuous loop blend into the background of your day, turn on a piece or playlist of music that uplifts you today.

We recently invested in a record player at our house, and are slowly building a carefully curated collection of vinyl, which is like a double whammy of music happiness - not only do we get to enjoy the musical nostalgia of our childhoods, we get to do it in a way that involves some of our favorite modern day tunes.
